Leading the way in workforce development with outstanding support from education providers 19 August 2024 In a resounding endorsement of our efforts, we’ve received a vote of confidence from education providers across New Zealand. According to a survey conducted by the national research company Verian in July 2024, 91% of education providers commend our work, praising our robust qualification and standard-setting initiatives that are crucial to the sector’s success. The survey results reinforce the high level of satisfaction among providers, with 74% expressing overall satisfaction with our interactions, a reflection of the Council’s commitment to fostering strong, productive relationships. Moreover, 79% of providers who engaged with our Assurance team and 74% with our Qualifications team reported positive experiences. Notably, the Council has earned a positive Net Promoter Score, with nearly half of the respondents indicating they are highly likely to recommend Waihanga Ara Rau to others in the sector. This score is a clear indicator of the trust and respect Waihanga Ara Rau has cultivated among its stakeholders, reinforcing its reputation as a leader in workforce development. The survey also reveals that we are not just meeting but exceeding expectations in several critical areas. For instance, 70% of providers agree that the Council understands the workforce needs of the construction and infrastructure sectors, contributes to workforce capability, and positively impacts education and training standards in New Zealand. These findings underscore our pivotal role in ensuring that learners acquire the relevant skills needed to succeed in their careers. Sixty-five per cent of survey participants confirmed that we respond appropriately to industry feedback. This showcases our adaptability and responsiveness to the evolving needs of the sector. This is further evidenced by the 76% of providers who support the skills workforce strategy, demonstrating widespread confidence in the Council’s strategic direction. Our success is rooted in our clear vision and strategy, which 70% of providers agree is well-articulated and trustworthy. The Council’s leadership in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system is also recognised, with providers acknowledging its impactful contributions to the sector’s growth and development. As the government consults on the redesign of the VET system, our role becomes even more critical. The Council’s ongoing efforts to ensure that qualifications and standards align with industry needs are essential as New Zealand navigates these changes. Our proven ability to deliver results and our deep industry connections will undoubtedly influence the consultation and the eventual shape of the VET system.
