Traction Line

Qualification review and skill standard development

We want to hear from you!

The New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Traction Line) (Level 4) [Ref: 3988] is underway.

A group of industry experts and provider representatives has been established to provide detailed input as part of our Technical Advisory Group (TAG). Key questions the group have discussed include:

  • Does the existing title reflect the qualification intent? Is an alternative, such as the New Zealand Certificate in Traction Line (Level 4) or the New Zealand Certificate in Traction Line Networks, more accurate?
  • Do changes need to be made to the strategic purpose statement to reflect the industry better?
  • What changes in the industry should be reflected in the graduate profile outcomes and credit allocations (including overall credit value)?

Participants also discussed companies’ internal training requirements and options for alignment with the qualification, in particular in terms of programme length.

The TAG wants to know how your company’s internal training requirements support apprentices in achieving this qualification.

We will develop skill standards to support this qualification

As part of this project, we will also develop skill standards to replace the unit standard suite US 31965 – 31972. Skill standards will be developed to ensure these reflect the skills valued by industry.

You can find information about skill standards at Skill Standards 101.
