The Waihanga Ara Rau Workforce Development Council will be closing operations from 19 December, and disestablished from 31 December 2025. The Energy and Infrastructure Industry Skills Board; Construction and Specialist Trades Industry Skills Board; Electrotechnology and Information Technology Industry Skills Board will pick up its functions.

About the Offsite Construction Strategic Reference Group (SRG)

These industries are represented by the Offsite Construction SRG:

  • Architectural aluminium joinery
  • Concrete production
  • Frame and truss manufacture
  • Pre-cast concrete and  concrete product manufacture
  • Offsite manufacturing
  • Steel framing
  • Timber joinery.

Set up in February 2023, the SRG is a collaboration between Waihanga Ara Rau and Hanga-Aro-Rau, the Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council.  The industries cross over between manufacturing and construction and require close collaboration between the two Workforce Development Councils.
