New skill standards on the way for Wheels, Tracks & Rollers (WTR)

We are in the initial stages of developing new skill standards, or potentially a single standard, for Wheels, Tracks, and Rollers (WTR) to replace the current unit standards 16701, 16702, and 16703.

Completing a WTR course is one of the requirements for obtaining a WTR endorsement from the NZ Transport Agency, Waka Kotahi. The new standard(s) will focus on ensuring safe and competent machinery driving.

Impacted unit standards

  • 16701: Demonstrate knowledge and skills for driving on a road for endorsement W (Wheels).
  • 16702: Demonstrate knowledge and skills for driving on a road for endorsement R (Rollers).
  • 16703: Demonstrate knowledge and skills for driving on a road for endorsement T (Tracks).

Your feedback matters

Your feedback will help us align the skill standard(s) with industry expectations, regulatory requirements and best practices.

We invite you to provide feedback by completing a short survey before 31 October 2024. This is your chance to influence the future of WTR skill standard(s).
